If there is an oil stain that you would like to remove, whether it is on a shirt, carpet, or other things in the house, you should use baking soda. The household product can absorb oil and grease on cloth, but you will have to scrape off the excess grease before sprinkling the baking soda and letting it sit for around 10-15 minutes. The oil will be absorbed by the baking soda, so vacuum off the excess. A cold cycle should be used to wash the stained fabric.

Over time, cloth furniture can absorb odors and some weird scents. Sprinkle some baking soda on your couches and chairs and leave it overnight. Use a vacuum to remove the residue the next day. This will keep your furniture smelling fresh.
