Not Like Ordinary Royals
The couple took residency at Kensington Palace and Highgrove House. Just a few short months after Diana and Charles said their vows, Princess Diana’s pregnancy was announced. The newlyweds welcomed their first son, Prince William in 1982 and then their second son, Prince Harry in 1984. It was common knowledge that princess Diana wanted to give her sons life experience outside of Buckingham Palace, this was very unusual for the royal family and against many protocols. This, however, was just one of the many things that Diana chose to defy.
Marital Difficulties
Sadly, just five years into the marriage of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, it was very apparent that their marriage was falling apart. The Queen and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh even hosted a reconciliation meeting between the two but regrettably, it was unsuccessful and the two ultimately separated. Soon after this, details of their marital difficulties became public….this seriously shocked so many people both in and out of the royal family. As much as many hoped Diana and Charles would work things out, the two ended in divorce in 1996.
