In many ways, dogs truly are a man’s best friend. With all the long walks, belly rubs, and pets, dogs adore reciprocating the affection they are shown. They always make sure to let their owners just how much they love them. At times, however, when it comes to big dogs, they tend not to realize just how big they actually are which leads to pretty hilarious moments.
All The Hugs
This is Butterscotch. He loves nothing more than to give hugs and kisses to everyone. Every time she goes out to lunch, she loves showing how well behaved she is by sitting on a chair. There are times, however, when she likes to act the way she did when she was a puppy and sit on her mom’s lap. Not only that, but she always gets excited when she gets a hug from her mom at lunch.

All The Hugs
Potato Sack
During their walk, Tor decided he was too tired to continue so he asked his mommy if she can carry him the rest of the way. He kept crying until she finally agreed, and as you can probably tell from the picture, Tor was very pleased about the outcome.

Let’s Play
Despite the fact that most dogs enjoy going to the park in order to run around, Crumble is not one of them. While he does run, his favorite thing to do at the park is going on the swings. Yes, we’re serious. In fact, he loves doing this ever since he was a little pup! Every week during his trip to the park, he paws at the swing until he gets to ride.

The Porch Swing
After a long and lazy day on the couch, Kirby heard the front door open. He knew it was time at last – time to rest in his favorite summertime spot: the porch swing. He loved the sun that warmed his back during the day and gently rocking side to side. However, before he managed to get out the door, his favorite person beat him to it. Undeterred, Kirby simply hopped onto the swing with her.

The Porch Swing
Heads Up
One of Bowser’s favorite things to do was go on car rides. Why? Well, he has his very own special window just for his head since sometimes, the spaces he tried to fit in were a bit too small. This window made everything so much better!

Can I Sit Here?
Rover tries to be a good boy all the time, but sometimes he just wants to sit wherever he wants, you know? At times he gets a little confused about where it’s okay to sit, or rather when it’s okay to sit. Here he’s clearly trying his best, but he hasn’t realized that he’s squashing people with his love.

Can I Sit Here
Doggie Dancing
This big boy was named Swayze for good reason. Every time he’s called to dance, he is all too happy to oblige. The biggest difference between dog Swayze and Patrick Swayze is that dog Swayze can’t exactly lift his dance partner like in the movie Dirty Dancing. All the same, Swayze enjoys dancing with his mom and letting her lift him – when she can.

Doggie Dancing
Time For A Lullaby
While he may be named after the fierce animal, Tiger the dog could not be any more different. He’s a lovable dog who loves cuddles. He has a fantastic sense of smell that allows him to know exactly when his person sat down on the couch – a prime time to get some good head scratches. As adorable as he is, Tiger has yet to realize how his upside-down pose is not the most practical in this case. Maybe someday Tiger will realize that he could get even better head scratches while on the couch itself.

Hanging Out With My Girl
Buffy has a lot of great things she loves to do: from lying by the side of the pool to relaxing on the roof and soaking up some sun. Naturally, the only water she drinks is alkaline water and if you try to give her anything else, she will spill her bowl. Another thing that she loves is her man, who she is very protective of. He lets her linger on his arm wherever he goes.

Hanging Out With My Girl
Stacks On Stacks
Copper was struggling a little bit here, his morning didn’t consist of as much sniffing as he would have liked. It might have just been the lack of smells, but either way, Copper just wanted to take a nap to feel better on the chair he saw outside. Sadly, he would soon discover that he didn’t actually fit on the chair he so wished to sleep on.

King Of The Pride
Simba began noticing things that were changing as he grew into a teenager. His parents would tell him things like “good boy”, but one day, they ambushed him and out of nowhere, his face was surrounded by auburn fur. “Ther you go, Simba!” they said proudly, “Now you look like the king of the pride!” Simba wasn’t very sure what was happening, but he just rolled with it.

King Of The Pride
Cuddle Buddy
There are plenty of people who enjoy sleeping with stuffed animals well into their adult years. However, there are others, like this man, who prefer cuddling with real dogs. Bruno was all for this sleeping arrangement since it kept him warm and cozy. He already knows it’s time for bed as soon as he sees his human get into bed so he hops on next to him and snuggles up to him.

Cuddle Buddy
Lapdog
As soon as Scruffy was brought home as a puppy, he decided his favorite spot was the lefthand corner of the couch. As he grew older, he stuck with this important decision, refusing to leave his spot, even when he became too big to sit there comfortably. It didn’t matter to him, whenever anyone would come close to his spot, he would come running and sit down.

Lapdog
Biker Gang
The constant grind of tending to flocks of sheep became rather boring for these sheepdogs. They needed a change of pace. As soon as Curly and Fizz saw this man pass by on his scooter, they knew they needed to get a ride. When the man stopped, they immediately hopped on the scooter with him.

Biker Gang
Sneaky Shadow
While shadows are typically quiet and nimble, Shadow the dog most certainly isn’t. Each and every morning, Shadow decides that it’s her turn to sleep on the bed, even if her human is already there. She doesn’t hesitate when she climbs up on the mattress before settling down. As long as she stays clear of her human’s face, she usually gets away with it.

Sneaky Shadow
Sit
At the time she was brought home, Cow’s new family thought it would be hilarious to name a dog after another animal. Little did they know that their dog would end up growing to be almost the size of an actual cow! When she was smaller, Cow would sit with her family in the living room, and slowly the family got used to Cow believing she was still a little baby.

Sit
Big Bed, Small Bed
As we can see here, Almond is all snuggled up in the center of the big doggy bed while Coconut found himself stuck with a bed that barely fits his right paw. All the same, Coconut was used to making do with whatever he got, so he made use of the bed regardless.

Big Bed, Small Bed
There’s Enough Room
Buster was always up for an adventure, whether it’s walking in the woods or running around the park. He just loved following his dad wherever he went. The only problem was that whenever Buster would tag along, there would be no room for other people to join as well. Buster would take up most of the backseat of the car!

There’s Enough Room
Netflix And Squish
Movie night has always been Midnight’s favorite night, and as soon as she began smelling popcorn in the air, she would get excited and run to the kitchen. Midnight isn’t the best movie companion since she isn’t aware of her size. She has no idea how to share the couch. She simply waits for her best friend to lie down and then hops on top of her and lies down.

As soon as Summer caught sight of a squirrel running past the window, he knew he needed a better placement to watch what was happening. He immediately ran to his best friend and demanded to be picked up, barking with his feet up in the air. As soon as he was picked up, he discovered just how much better he could see things! Not only could he see the squirrel, but he also saw the other squirrels nearby who were trying to hide.

Employee Of The Month
This new employee was very excited to start on his new home-based job. Leo has never had a real job before this, and he couldn’t wait to start! He was sure he’d be a great assistant, but when he got to his desk, he saw his chair was already occupied. As he’s been told to sit, he did, right on his mom’s face.

Employee Of The Month
High Maintenance
Rusty is one dog with very high standards. He doesn’t like roughing it at all. He loves his creature comforts too much. Not just a nice bed on the floor – his family tried buying him the best dog bed they could find, but Rusty was not interested. Each night, he likes climbing on top of whoever is sitting on the couch and blocking the TV.

High Maintenance
Smart Pup
You might be surprised to find out, but Purdy is the most popular professor on campus. Her favorite thing to do is eat up student papers and she always graded fairly. All her students are impressed with how ambitious and intellectual she is. The best part for her is getting home and getting an extra hug from her mom.

Smart Pup
Naptime
Each day, Felix got to a point where he was world-weary. He would wake up every morning and go for his first, and most important, a sniff of the day. He hadn’t been out in what felt like weeks! After breakfast, the house usually emptied, so Felix would take advantage and take a nice nap on the couch. He seems to forget each time that his paws are hanging off the edge.

Big Baby
Clearly, this adorable malamute doesn’t realize just how big he is. One thing is for sure: no burglar would want to come face-to-face with this big guy!

Cuddly Puppy
Paddy is an 18-month-old Newfoundland. He just wants to be cuddled. He still thinks he’s a small puppy who can fit in someone’s lap easily. Who are we to tell him he’s wrong?

Find The Person
This is a fun game to play: can you spot the person buried underneath this smiling pup? All we can see is an arm, honestly. Either way, we’re sure the puppy is happy as can be!

“No, mom, you can’t grade those essays now! You need to pay attention to me!” It looks like this large pup’s mother isn’t too angry about the situation, really. Who needs personal space anyways?

Giant Lap Dog
“Ah yes, this is the perfect spot to sit in”. Let’s be real, this looks like the coziest place to be. This giant lap dog clearly has no plans for changing his ways anytime soon.

Puppy Overflow
Is it a mini couch or a giant dog? We may never know… In any case, this puppy has made himself comfortable sitting on the 12-year-old trying to have some downtime on the couch.

8 Months Old
Duke is a rather big dog. He’s also 8-months-old. Oh, and he’s sure he’s still a lapdog. To be clear, Duke is still growing. We’re sure we’ll see a more updated picture in the future where he’s even bigger and still convinced he’s a small lapdog!

The Biggest Dog
Another pup that is completely sure he’s still a small puppy, Tonka. He loves cuddling with his dad in the evenings and relaxing with him. No one can convince Tonka that he’s much, much, bigger than he thinks.

The Biggest Dog
Cuddle
This lapdog loves to pose for photos! We gotta say, he’s doing a great job. This pup would definitely be a great Instagram model! Aside from the amazing modeling, he looks like one pup that truly loves cuddling, and we can’t blame him – who doesn’t?

Puppy At Heart
Don’t people always say what’s on the inside really counts? Well, this pup clearly believes he’s a small puppy and a lapdog! Would you be able to say no to that face when he’d ask to cuddle?

Puppy Is A State Of Mind
Despite his enormous size, this pup wants to be a pup so badly. It seems to be that his human is totally on board with this idea since she looks so happy. Honestly, who wouldn’t want to cuddle with this big ball of floof?

Puppy Is A State Of Mind
Bigger Than Wife
Lincoln really, really, loves to cuddle. Even with his human who is actually smaller than him! Just look at how happy these two are. Lincoln doesn’t realize that he isn’t a small puppy anymore, but we aren’t going to burst his bubble.

Forever And Always
There are people who claim people don’t ever change. Well, we’re not sure about that, but one thing is for sure: dogs’ personality traits never change. Case and point: this big pup who is clearly a lapdog at heart. What can we say? Old habits die hard.

Forever And Always
What Is Personal Space?
Who needs personal space when they have this adorable giant pup to snuggle with? In any case, sharing is caring, so why not share your personal space with this fluffy boy? We know we wouldn’t mind it even one bit.

What Is Personal Space
Malamute Lapdog
This malamute seems to like invading people’s personal space in order to feel included. We don’t blame him, but he really shouldn’t worry about such things. We’re sure just about any human would love to snuggle with this big boy.

Malamute Lapdog
Gentle Giant
Whoever claims that big dogs are aggressive, clearly hasn’t many of them. This pup is the perfect example. What better way to watch TV than with a big, soft, cuddly dog?

The Best Lap Dog
What we’re really wondering when looking at this picture is how is that person able to watch TV with his dog sitting on his lap? The pup is taller than he is even sitting down!

3 Great Danes
Just like human siblings, dog siblings can be jealous and somewhat competitive. These 3 Great Danes love sitting on their dad’s lap and often fight over it. It sometimes gets to this point where they all claim their spot while ignoring the others.

Lap Dog At Heart
This situation looks very comfortable for the dog… Not so much for his human. It’s clear that this dog identifies as a lapdog, despite his size.

Do You Mind?
“The couch is for all of us!” From the looks of it, this dog seems to believe he deserves to lounge on the couch – even if there’s someone already on it. Honestly, it doesn’t look like his human has much of a say in the matter since she’s much smaller than him.

Giant Husky
Wondering what kind of beautiful dog this is? This is called a Giant Alaskan Malamute and this is him during his pamper day. Here we can see him sitting in the mobile groomer’s van, which he barely fits in. Even though he looks like a giant, according to his owners he really is one of the friendliest creatures in the world.

Giant Husky
The Incredible Hulk
We would like to introduce you to The World’s Biggest Pitbull. His name is Hulk and weighs around 173 pounds (79kg). This enormous dog resides in the USA and was actually trained for protection services while growing up. Even though he recently became a father to 8 gorgeous pitbull puppies, Hulk still thinks that he is a puppy himself. According to his owner, “Hulk is a gentle giant and a great father”.

The Incredible Hulk
You’ve Got A Friend In Me
This giant dog is a Mastiff is said to weigh around 250lbs. But regardless, he is a pure gentleman. It’s clearly obvious that this big man is so loyal to his owner and will never leave her side. And that’s what they say, dogs are man’s best friend! But perhaps, this Mastiff doesn’t realize just how big he really is.

You’ve Got A Friend In Me
The Best Dishwasher
Typically speaking, Newfoundland dogs are known to be large dogs, generally weighing between 50 and 70kg. Additionally, they can reach a height of roughly 65cm, which in case you didn’t know is pretty tall – especially for a dog. In fact, this gorgeous dog nearly gained world fame as he was once a contender for the world’s tallest dog. This Newfoundland dog could easily drink water from the faucet in the kitchen. Impressive, right?

The Best Dishwasher
Big Dogs Need Love Too
By now you have probably already noticed that we have featured many St. Bernards on the list. But we have a few more! Even though St. Bernards can weigh up to 82kg (181 lbs), that definitely does not mean that these adorable dogs don’t want to be loved and cuddled. And this is definitely is the case right here, even though his owner looks to be struggling a bit.

Big Dogs Need Love Too
Worlds Biggest Newfoundland
Is this a bear or a gorilla? Well, neither is actually a real dog. It’s kind of hard to fully understand how enormous this dog really is, but we’re here to give you a slight idea. So even though this dog is a Newfoundland breed, it is actually called the “Russian Bear”. And naturally, he ranks as one of the largest dogs in the world. According to his owners, most of the time he doesn’t quite understand how big he is.

Worlds Biggest Newfoundland
Couch Potato
By now we have seen that no matter the size, most dogs love to sit on the couch. The only problem is that many huge dogs don’t understand that they actually aren’t suitable for some of the chairs and couches in their owner’s homes. Not only is this one of the world’s biggest Husky’s but she always loves to be near her owners, even if it means struggling to fit on the couch that is obviously way too small.

Couch Potato
Opposites Attract
Great Danes are known to be the biggest dog breeds in the world. Usually, these dogs weigh around 50-90 kg (depending on if they are male or female). And additionally, Great Danes can grow up to 85cm tall. And even though they look like massive creatures, they have one of the friendliest temperaments. People have also said that these dogs are devoted, loving, and gentle, so it’s no wonder these two are besties!

Opposites Attract
Just Chillin’
Over time, dogs truly get attached to their owners and feel they should do everything that their owners do. And for this big doggy, this is exactly the case. His owner and the other dog get to sit on the bench so why cant he? He may not be able to fit on the bench itself but that doesn’t bother him at all, he was determined to make and a plan. And the truth is we think he is super smart, right?

Just Chillin’
David And Goliath
Dogs come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. And this is just one of the reasons we love them! What’s pretty funny is the fact that big breed dogs often don’t realize that after a certain stage they are no longer a puppy. Now, this big, furry Irish Wolfhound is extremely sweet-tempered, patient, and dignified. So no matter who or what comes into contact with him, his size is of no concern.

David And Goliath
Summer Time Fun!
This enormous dog is approximately 150 pounds and still thinks he is a laptop. He is just too adorable to not let him have his way! What’s also so special about Newfoundland is that he loves to give people cuddles and kisses. But being the size he is, this can sometimes be quite scary for kids and elderly people. To some, he may look like a huge grizzly bear but in reality, he is the most adorable cuddle machine!

Summer Time Fun!
Who’s Walking Who
Here we have another Irish Wolfhound. For those who don’t know, this dog breed tends to get pretty large. Depending on the gender of the dog, they can weigh up to 120 lbs (55 kg). And, they can also stand at roughly 32 inches (roughly 75-82 cm) tall. Not only are these two the best of friends, but so often this furry creature tends to forget that his bestie is so much smaller than him.

Who’s Walking Who
Lounging Around
As big as they are, St. Bernards are friendly, gentle, and super calm. This is why they love to lounge around most of their day. Clearly, this little one found the perfect spot when he was smaller and a puppy. But didn’t exactly understand that as he grew older he couldn’t exactly fit into his favorite spot! Poor thing! And he isn’t even a fully grown pooch yet.

Lounging Around
Freddy The Great Dane
Freddy the Great Dane was named the tallest dog in the world by the Guinness World Records back in 2016. He stands at 7 feet 5.5 inches tall on his hind legs. He indeed was a real gentle giant and was a very much adored pet who eventually became a worldwide superstar. His owners confessed that Freddy was not just a big dog but he really had a huge heart.

Freddy The Great Dane
Ready To Rock
When this doggy was younger and smaller her owners were always put her in a kid’s car seat. So of course, she got used to this habit, and even when she grew older and was too big for the seat, she was determined to sit in it during every car ride. This is really one of the best examples where dogs don’t realize just how large they actually are!

Ready To Rock
A Small Horse Or A Big Dog?
Meet Henry. Henry is a big ball of fluff, but what does he think of his horsey counterpart? Does he think they are the same? They look similar enough if we’re being honest. Perhaps he may have noticed the lack of barking from him though. Nonetheless, if he is happy, we hope he is ready to gallop around all day.

A Small Horse Or Big Dog
Bigger Than The Groomer!
We don’t think Groomer realizes just how big he is! He’s basically the same size as the groomer! If anything, it may be more accurate to refer to Dakota as a bear, rather than a dog. This pup doesn’t seem phased by this however, waiting patiently for the groomer to get on with his job. The ideal client, Dakota only just about fits on the platform. It’s certainly not his first rodeo in the groomer’s van.

Bigger Than The Groomer!
Getting Carried Away
We think that Mikey the Malamute has gotten a bit carried away here! We think he has forgotten that he isn’t a baby anymore, and probably a bit too large to be carried from A to B! His owner doesn’t seem deterred however, holding the 80 pound pup like its no problem. We don’t think this will be the end of huggies or carry-trips for Mikey.

Getting Carried Away
Loyalty Is Everything
Hugo has been a great friend to Nancy for the duration of their whole companionship. They are inseparable and he is always there to provide support. Whether its a trip to the park, a wander round the streets, Hugo loves every minute, and Nancy wouldn’t have it any other way. Here we can see a sweet moment between the two where they can peacefully coexist, doing they’re own things, together. Stunning.

Loyalty Is Everything
Once A Lap Dog, Always A Lap Dog
Boxer clearly doesn’t realize his own size. Perhaps he is jealous that his younger, smaller brother still gets to sit on a lap quite easily. This doesn’t deter Boxer from trying to get his own way though! Why should size be a barrier? We think he is making the best of an unlikely situation here, and even his owner seems happy. Boxer knows she can’t support all his weight however, helping her out by standing on two legs, easing the weight. Clever boy.

Once A Lap Dog, Always A Lap Dog
The Lion King…?
Is this a lion? We can’t really say for sure, because he certainly resembles one! Lionel (a name rather fitting!) stands tall and proud next to his owner, seemingly unaware that his size is remarkable for a pup! This furry friend loves the attention she gives him, and stands straight and patiently for the photograph. His bear-paws make us think he could even be half bear, half lion.

The Lion King…
A Fluffy Sleeping Partner
They may look cozy here, but we have a feeling that she can’t feel her legs! There is nothing cuter than when your dog wants to snuggle up to you, but we think Jasper might be a little too big for this. Especially for lying on top of her! They seem lost in each other’s eyes, but we presume they will have moved positions not long after.

A Fluffy Sleeping Partner
Already Taller Than Dad
We’re sure Derek wasn’t sure what he would be in for when he adopted Maynard. The two have develop a blossomed friendship, and now Derek can’t imagine life without his furry friend. However, Maynard has yet to turn 3 and is already taller! The two seem unaffected by this fact, and Maynard literally looks like he is in heaven standing next to his buddy.

Already Taller Than Dad
Brothers In Arms
You wouldn’t want to mess with Rico and his guard-dog, Lenny. Lenny doesn’t take any nonsense and will protect Rico till the very end. The pair have become brothers, and have developed the same personality. Sure, Lenny is a little too big for the couch, but why should that stop him? He just wants to hang with his best friend after a long day. Rico seems cool with it, so it’s all good. A dynamic duo.

Brothers In Arms
Pitbull Turned Avenger!
Hulk is quite frankly huge! Coming in at 173 pounds, he is way heavier than his owner. We can only compare him to the Incredible Hulk, so his name is rather fitting. He looks quite content with his situation, loving life and standing hugs with his owner. Even she realizes however that she might be out of her depth, but they sure do look well-suited!

Pitbull Turned Avenger
Some Guard Dog!
Hadrian doesn’t even resemble a dog! If anything he looks more like a big mop! We think he might be in need of a haircut. The appearance and size he possesses however make him an ideal candidate to be a guard dog! There is nothing more that Hadrian loves than running around in the field, and he helps out his owner a lot.

Some Guard Dog!
“If I Fits, I sits!”
A phrase predominantly used in relation to cats, who will just about squeeze into anywhere should they choose, it also appears relevant for Cindy here. Cindy clearly doesn’t have any awareness of her own size, but must realize she is too big to lay down in this chair. This hasn’t stopped Cindy improvising however! She can’t lay down, but she can sit up straight! She doesn’t look so comfortable however. Perhaps she moved somewhere better suited to her size after this.

If I Fits, I Sits
Never Too Late For A Piggyback Ride
Lucas and Leo are the best of friends, and Lucas has loved watching Leo grow from a baby to the strong puppy he is today. That being said, just because he is a puppy doesn’t mean he is the size of one! Leo is huge and remembers his days as a younger pup where he would often take piggy back rides from his owner. He enjoyed them so much that he wants to relive those days. We think he might be a little too big however…

Never Too Late For A Piggyback Ride
Besties Reunited
Simon hadn’t seen his pup Solly since he was a pup! He’s still a pup but wow he doesn’t look like one! Solly has grown exponentially since they had last seen each other, but both are still ready for hugs! Simon looks ecstatic to see his dog, and so he should because he is adorable and fluffy!

Besties Reunited
Unrequited Love
Have they just had a fight? Whatever happened here, we won’t know for sure, but Rufus doesn’t look to happy with his owner. Maybe he is upset that he didn’t take him on the car ride he said he would, or maybe he didn’t give him pats for being a good boy. Whatever it was, his owner seems full of repentance and is showering his pup with love. We are sure Rufus will come round however.

Unrequited Love
Natural Warmer
Who needs an electric blanket when you have a pup like this! Gareth is huge and provides great body heat. His owner might need him to move shortly though, we don’t think she can take his weight and size much longer! Gareth seems to be showing her that he owns her! He will look after her, love her and cherish her. Still, we think he best move.

Natural Warmer
A Nice Lap
Bailey is a big, big dog. She comes in at 130 pounds, which compared to some of this list isn’t actually that big. However, it is definitely too big to sit on his Mom’s lap! This will not deter her efforts though. At least Mom and Dad see the funny side to the situation.

A Nice Lap
Kitchen Inspection
We all know that dogs are very curious animals. Sarah is no exception! However she is so big that she can really investigate all the areas that the average dog might not be able to! Its fair to say that we don’t think that his owners leave much food on the side. That leftover plate of roast beef would certainly disappear in an instant!

Kitchen Inspection
Flying Without Wings
Damian sure loves the sky, he just wishes he could get even closer to it! Luckily his owner, similarly to him is also quite tall, and is able to help him out. Damian really feels on top of the world being so high up compared to all the other pups! He could even make it over the fence! Having already towered over everyone else, he feels like a king.

Flying Without Wings
Dog or Wolf?
We think we Ben in Game of Thrones. We’re almost certain. There is no chance that Ben isn’t one of the Stark dire wolves! He truly looks more wolf than dog, but still loves a good cuddle from his Mom. She doesn’t seem to mind that he is putting a lot of his weight on her; smiles all round.

Dog Or Wolf
Polar Bear
Polar Bear tends to forget just how heavy is it at times. When he was a small puppy, he became addicted to being held and was often carried around by his family. Over the years, Polar Bear grew and found that fewer family members could pick him up. Nonetheless, this didn’t him from continuously asking to be picked up. He cries and whines at people’s feet until he gets picked up.

Polar Bear
