Burrell’s trial was sensationally ignored after the Queen intervened in his defense, despite the fact that he was charged with robbery. She had given her former employee permission to store the 310 items in question. As a result of this ruling, Burrell’s charges in court have been dropped.
Not The Last Time
This isn’t the last time Burrell’s actions have been called into question. An ex-royal household member was found to have secretly duplicated the princess’s and others’ messages during the investigation into Diana’s death in 2008. On the other side, Burrell said that he did so because of the papers’ “historical significance.”
