Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant, better remembered as the ‘Black Mamba on the court, was one of the greatest basketball players ever to play the game, playing with the Los Angeles Lakers as a shooting guard throughout his 20-season career. Five NBA championships, 18 All-Star awards, and two-time NBA Finals MVP status were the culmination of his experience, leadership, and competitive personality. He received the 2017 film Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, Dear Basketball, upon retirement. Traveling with his daughter, Gianna, to a touring basketball match, their private helicopter fell fatally in early 2020.
