Keep Cake Fresh With Bread On The Edges
Once the cake has been cut, it has a tendency to dry out, exposing the ends to the elements. For those who don’t have access to a cake dome or storage container, you can use toothpicks to attach some slices of bread to the cut ends of the cake. The bread will dry out, but it will keep the cake moist and covered.
Heat Leftovers More Effectively
Microwaves are excellent for reheating food, however, they frequently reheat in an uneven manner. For food that can be formed (i.e. not soup), make it into a ring with a hole in the middle and place it in the microwave. It will reheat more quickly and uniformly, so you won’t have hot and cold areas on your plate.
