It hadn’t begun this way at first. Despite her lack of warmth and kindness, Johanna had been tolerable. However, everything seemed to shift for an inexplicable cause. Emily had already fallen deeply in love with Daniel by that point and believed Johanna would simply be a burden for the rest of their life together, but she lost it at one point.
