When walking your dog it is inevitable for them to suddenly stop and raise one foot up. I is not that they have injured themselves in any way but are rather stabilizing themselves to figure out what it is they have just seen. Their brains are flowing and their senses are on high-alert, hence they sniff a lot when searching for something.

A dogs tail shoots up when they come in to contact with another dog or animal, they are excited and it is also a symbol f confidence. However, if their tail remains up and shaky it can mean that they may be feeling challenged or territorial. As content and happy dogs usually have their tale at the same level as the body.
