Scientists conducted research in which they combined a group of cats’ names with a lot of random terms to see whether they were aware of or worried about the names their owners gave them. When they learned their names, each of the cats had a different response. This research clearly suggests that cats may deduce their names from the context of other terms. Cats’ names are generally associated with food, play, and love. Apart from all this positive stuff, does it realize what a word means? Very likely not. But, for the time being, it’s fine as long as it responds when named.

Raffles is a Maine Coon with curly whiskers and spade-shaped markings on his face.
