When an unknown cat with curled ears appeared outside a feline lover’s home, it was swiftly saved and educated to produce a whole family of cats that bears some resemblance to it. After successfully raising a litter of kittens, this remarkable feline mutation was formally recognized as a new breed. The fact that this new breed was created through incest means it is free of the strange health issues that pedigree cats are known for. The paws of an American Curl cat, as well as human ears, are entirely made of cartilage. This cartilage starts out straight, but it curves after a few days. Despite the fact that the breed matures like any other breed, they appear to retain their kitten-like characteristics as they grow older.
