His Life Inspired Comic Books
In the years since Andre the Giant died, the public’s interest in him hasn’t really waned, and his incredible life even inspired a couple of graphic novels. In 2016, Brandon Easton’s “Andre The Giant: Closer To Heaven” was released and in 2014, Box Brown’s “Andre the Giant: Life and Legend” was first published. According to Box Brown, a graphic novel was a great vehicle for Andre’s unusual life story. “When working on Andre’s story I was really trying to be careful. I tried to put myself in Andre’s shoes, which is difficult given the extraordinary nature of his life.”
Last Appearances For WWF
Andre’s health had deteriorated a lot in his final years, so he decided to limit grueling wrestling appearances. His last WWF pay-per-view appearance was at SummerSlam ’91, which was held at Madison Square Garden. A lot of fans remember it because it was also the event where Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth got “married” on camera. In the same year, Andre went on a WWF tour in England and he went back to the ring for the last time for the 1992 Survivor Series. In January of 1993, Andre passed away.
