Andre’s wrestling debut was in the World Wrestling Federation in March of 1973. This was back when it was called the World Wide Wrestling Federation. He instantly became a fan favorite, defeating Buddy Wolfe in Madison Square Garden.

While Andre really was a giant, in wrestling history, there were actually a few other wrestlers who were taller than him! They might not be as well known, but some of them are Giant Gonzalez, a former NBA player who was in the WCW and WWE and was 7’7. It turns out that he suffered from a similar condition as Andre did.
