The Origin Of Ginger’s Name

We already explained that Gilligan is just a name that was randomly selected for the character Bob Denver played. However, there was a bit more effort involved when they chose Ginger for Tina Louise’s character. It appears that they got inspiration from two of Hollywood’s greatest legends from its Golden Era – Ginger Rogers and Cary Grant. As a matter of fact, the hit show referenced Cary Grant a lot.
