The slide quickly became their favorite, with Jake daringly sliding down backward while Emma giggled at his playful antics. When Emma climbed onto the swings, she called out, “Higher, Nana!” I happily obliged, pushing her higher and higher as her giggles turned into delighted squeals. These simple moments made everything worthwhile—fresh air and laughter washing away, if only briefly, any worries about the challenges still to come.

As the sun started to dip, Lisa arrived to pick up the kids. “Thanks for keeping them entertained, Mom,” she said, her gratitude sounding sincere.
