The Daily Telegraph published a story in 2005 where an alleged anonymous “friend of the Queen” claimed that Elizabeth II herself had said, “I am not able to go. I do not feel that my position permits it.” According to the same source, “The Queen feels she has to put her role with the Church before her role as a mother.”
