Ryan was more than happy to get Jill back after all that. However, his community could not help but feel that he deserved more than that. The hospital where Jill was confined nominated him for the Oklahoma Heart Hero Award, given to locals who used an automated external defibrillator (AED) or CPR to save their lives. The loving husband had been eligible since his wife’s recovery began to give him CPR.

His concern for Jill did not end when she returned home. “It’s not a night that I don’t wake up,” Ryan joked, “I usually kick her, and if she kicks me back, I know we’re all right.” She had a funny thing to share, too. She said that if you were wondering, they would drop the restaurant she talked about as she woke up from the coma. We’re so happy that it worked out for them! Every marriage is a different one. The next couple, for one, waited almost ten years to open a wedding gift.
