In addition, due to his activist efforts, the 2019 Human Rights Movement paid tribute to the real personality with the coveted Upstander Award – a recognition that still carries some significance for the Johnsons.

Furthermore, in 2014 EJ gave his parents the exact same prize. As per the website of the Human Rights Movement, Magic and Cookie have been chosen as beneficiaries “for being advocates for inclusion and expressing their genuine love for their son.” And it all goes to prove that after the early chaos, the powerful family relationship of the Johnsons means they can conquer any challenge.
