The two-time Super Bowl champion was now the NFL’s sixth highest-paid defensive player as well as a third-highest-paid defensive end. In each of the last three seasons, he has helped lead the Patriots in quarterback sacks.

Alex Smith is a quarterback for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League. Smith was a member of the Utah Utes football team and was given the name Mountain West Conference Player of the Year in 2004. The San Francisco 49ers picked Smith in the 2005 NFL Draft.
