The Group
At least 3 in a group of 5 must agree that she is no longer fit to rule. The first one is her spouse. Next would be the Lord Chancellor, a position that is largely ceremonial. The House of Commons speaker is also in the group. This position might not be as powerful as America’s speaker, but it is still important in the British Parliament. The Lord Chief Justice and the Master of the Rolls complete the group.

In 2016, Sally Bedell Smith, a U.S. biographer, shared this with USA Today: “The evidence of physicians is required to make the judgment of incapacity. In other words, there is a set procedure, and it is something that wouldn’t be invoked lightly. It’s a big deal.” This has actually happened in the past!
