Walter now went by the name Bobby. He got to New York in November 1977. He used the money that he had on him to get a motel room. When he ran out of money, he started to live on the streets. It would look like luck was on his side because he was still able to start a new life. Thanks to good luck and a few lies, he managed to secure a driver’s license, a birth certificate, and a social security number!
