Robbie Rist played Cousin Oliver on The Brady Bunch. However, people disliked the character so much that it developed into a trope called” Cousin Oliver Syndrome.” This term refers to a young character introduced to an old show and needs to shake things up. Unfortunately, many people believe that typecasting only degrades shows. Oliver acted as if he were a human disaster magnet. He caused a slew of issues and threw the series off balance. Today agrees that Cousin Oliver “killed” the series. Oof.
