Mixed breeds
When looking for the most suitable companion, always keep in mind that you don’t have to get a purebred dog. A lot of experts recommend to seniors to look for a mixed breed dog at the shelter instead. Directly once dogs go through a shelter, they are assessed for their care needs, personality, and other qualities. The reason as to why this is done is so both people and dogs are perfectly matched and the dogs are then guaranteed their forever home. It’s also a great thing since you won’t need to train the puppies yourself!
Yorkshire Terrier
Looking to own a small and gentle dog, why not get a Yorkshire terrier? The average lifespan of these dogs is 13 to 20 years, so they will more than likely stay with you for a long time, of course, if you take good care of it. Yorkshire Terriers are another one of the dog breeds that is frequently found in apartments and assisted living centers as they are easy to manage. Daily brushing is somewhat required. Yorkies also do not require all that much exercise either and may find them resting on your knees quite often.
