When Ashlee Simpson made a disastrous appearance on Saturday Night Live in 2004, it was the beginning of the end for her. Simpson danced while the backing track from her first song, “Pieces of Me,” played in order to distract the audience from the fact that she had lip-synced during her second song of the night, “Autobiography.” Simpson attempted to place blame on the band for the entire incident, but SNL cut to commercial immediately after that attempt.
