Critics didn’t like the actor’s performance at all, saying that Jason Robards, Jr. from the film had given the part more justice. Well, Robards won several awards for his portrayal of the character, so it must have been hard for Selleck to top that. The playwright, however, was quick to defend Selleck by claiming that the actor perfectly stuck to his script.
