Selleck also tapped into Broadway when he played Murray in the stage adaptation of A Thousand Clowns in 2001. Critics didn’t like the actor’s performance at all, saying that Jason Robards, Jr. from the film had given the part more justice. Well, Robards won several awards for his portrayal of the character, so it must have been hard for Selleck to top that. The playwright, however, was quick to defend Selleck by claiming that the actor perfectly stuck to his script.

It might not come as a surprise to know that Selleck is a firearms collector, marksman, and outdoorsman. All these interests made him the perfect man for Western films. He starred in The Sacketts, Quigley Down Under, The Shadow Riders, and Crossfire Trail.
