The Unusual Pregnancy
I’ve seen a lot of pregnant dogs in the shelter, but when I saw this one, I knew something wasn’t right. Her tummy was abnormally large and appeared to be about to explode. I reached for the ultrasound machine in concern, and as the picture finally came into focus, I gasped so loudly that everyone in the room turned to stare at me. Someone had intentionally done this, and this was no typical pregnancy. Nobody anticipated what was developing inside of her; it was far worse.

A Rescue’s Worst Fear
In a worn-out area of town, Becky managed the tiny rescue. Gourmet sweets and fancy mattresses weren’t the type of thing you’d find there. It was a place of survival and necessity. Even though she had experienced heartbreak after heartache, something about this puppy stopped her cold. Becky’s thoughts were racing. Although she had seen her fair share of severe cases, this one was unlike any she had ever seen. With each deep breath the dog took, the nausea in her gut tightened.
