Becky wasted no time in getting the ultrasound equipment ready, her fingers working slowly but steadily. “We’ll investigate,” she reassured the anxious employees. When the terrier let out a low whine, Becky’s anxiety grew and began to consume her. She said, her voice just above a whisper, “I know, I know.” With a silent, resolute terror, she applied the cold gel to the dog’s abdomen as her own heart raced.
