We do not want to ruin pro wrestling for you, but pretty much everyone is aware that not everything that happens in the ring is real. The winners are already decided beforehand, many of the dialogue you hear are scripted, and the wrestlers also do a lot of acting when the audience is around. Wrestlers billed as siblings or family members might not be related in any way, and the same is true for those billed as love interests. In reality, there are actually wrestlers who coupled up at one point or another. Read on to find out which of our favorite grapplers were actually in relationships in the past or until the present!

Wrestling Romances That Did Not Only Stay In The Ring But Also In Real Life
Stephanie McMahon & Triple H
This has got to be one of the most famous and powerful couples in all of wrestling history. WWE star Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, the chief brand officer, have been together for over 15 years already. In 1999, they got involved in an iconic storyline in which Triple H married her after drugging her and bringing her to a Las Vegas drive-through chapel. A year after that, the two started dating for real and then tied the knot in 2003.

Stephanie McMahon & Triple H

They were both champions of the company back then, although the marriage came to an end after he physically abused her on numerous occasions. She eventually attributed it to his steroid-related mood swings.

Debra & Steve Austin
Cody Rhodes & Eden Stiles
Even though Cody’s most recent gimmick involved him dressing as a strange being from beyond the stars in a bodysuit and makeup, he and his lovely wife are one of the more low-key couples in wrestling. It’s no secret that Cody was a top WWE prospect throughout his career, even when WWE gave him a string of ridiculously bad gimmicks. NXT’s ring announcer Eden rose through the ranks to become a backstage/ring announcer on Raw, and she also became a major part of WWE’s online presence (including many videos and photos with a certain Stardust lurking in the background). As a result of Cody’s dissatisfaction with his treatment in WWE, he requested his release, and Eden followed suit soon after, reducing their visibility in the mainstream.

Brian Kendrick is a household name, but Taylor Matheny is less well-known. Anyone who watched the original Tough Enough will recall that she lost to Nidia in the Finals (manager of Jamie Noble). WWE did not give her a role in the company, unlike the winners and runner-ups Nidia, Maven, Josh Mathews, and Christopher Nowinski. We last saw her in a WWE-related video of Kendrick training Eva Marie on YouTube. They have been married since 2008, but no children have been born of the union.

Bubba Ray Dudley & Velvet Sky
Their friendship was born out of their time together at Impact Wrestling a number of years ago. Velvet Sky appeared for the first time on WWE-related material at the Dudley Boyz WWE Hall of Fame induction. Bubba Ray’s tweet about Velvet’s “stiffness” in bed was the last significant event to be reported. Okay, so it’s not what you think. When he said that Sky headbutted him while she was sleeping, he was joking about her needing to learn how to work properly. He and Sky have primarily worked for Ring Of Honor since Bubba Ray’s departure from WWE.

Cedric Alexander & Big Swole
There are other married couples working for WWE and AEW besides Adam Cole and Britt Baker. It was in 2018 that Alexander and Swole tied the knot and welcomed their first child. Prior to being signed by WWE to their new cruiserweight division, Cedric had worked in Ring Of Honor since 2009. Big Swole, who made her debut in 2015, is still a relative newcomer to the industry. To prove her worth on the independent circuit, she was signed by AEW. This month, she defeated Britt Baker in her dentist’s office at All Out, her biggest win to date.

Drake Maverick & Renee Michelle
On TNA/Impact Wrestling, he was known as Rockstar Spud, and he was EC3’s manager and occasional wrestler. On joining WWE, he was given the title of General Manager of 205 Live and his name was changed to “WWE.” He is best known to WWE fans for his pursuit of R-Truth, as well as his recent success in NXT. WWE thought it would be amusing to stage a mock wedding for R-Truth, which he crashed, in 2019, after he and Renee Michelle got married. As for Renee, she’s an amateur wrestler who works mostly in the independent circuit. It was in the 2017 Mae Young Classic that she lost her first WWE match to Candice LeRae. The second time was on a Raw episode when she and her husband competed for the 24/7 title against R-Truth & Carmella in a losing effort.

Eddie & Alisha Edwards
They’ve worked together in Impact Wrestling for a long time. A jobber for Awesome Kong, Alisha made her TNA debut back in 2008. Eddie and Alisha are one of the most experienced active wrestling couples, as Eddie has been in the business for 18 years and Alisha has been in the business for 14 years. They are parents to a daughter.

Ember Moon & Matthew Palmer
It was in the middle of the ring at an independent wrestling show in 2017 when Matthew Palmer proposed to his girlfriend, who goes by the name Athena. As a result of their marriage in 2018, Ember Moon became NXT Champion before making her debut on the main roster in 2019. Although he has worked some tag team matches for Impact Wrestling, Palmer continues to work in the independents.
