Apparently, the painting was done at the height of the artist’s career. “1890 is when we start to see some of his very best paintings. “You can see that in this painting, he didn’t really ever bring conflict into his work as some of the other artists of that time did,” she continued to say. It seemed as though Rose was listening very carefully to every word. “He really just wanted to show the Native Americans in their natural environment – without too many other things happening besides the landscape around them.”
