Once the initial worry subsided, the family began to settle down. Lucy helped the children wash themselves, washing the day’s dirt and salt water off their skin. “Let’s get you clean,” she told them gently. The children, still buzzing with excitement, chatted about the day. “Those things were so weird!” exclaimed Carson. “Yes, very weird,” agreed Katrina. Robert leaned against the door, watching his family with a sense of relief. The chaotic day was finally coming to an end.
