The day started out just like any other. Austin and Hubert, Austin’s stepfather, were looking forward to another enjoyable trip to the mountains. They had previously visited the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and taken the same route. This is why they were certain they’d be able to finish the hike. There were, however, only a few markers at the location, and they were tucked away among the trees. Anyone unfamiliar with the trail would almost certainly become lost, but the two were unconcerned because it wasn’t their first visit. Clearly, they weren’t as successful this time.

They decided to travel to the Smoky Mountains in search of a specific type of plant that thrived there. Taking plants from national parks could land Austin and Hubert in legal trouble. However, they were well aware that this plant’s root was in high demand (and people would pay a hefty price). Due to the growing popularity of health supplements and energy drinks, the couple could get up to $600 for a pound of this plant. They had to be cautious to succeed. In contrast, Hubert made a critical error near the creek.
