What Happened
Hubert claims he tripped on a rock near the creek and fell. His balance may have been regained, but his eyeglasses were lost in the water. Without them, he wouldn’t be able to see clearly, and moving forward would be difficult because the road ahead was dangerous and full of hazards. That meant he had to return his glasses. Austin, 18, dove into the creek without warning to get his stepfather’s glasses.

The adolescent attempted to feel the creek’s bottom with his feet and locate his stepfather’s glasses. Hubert noticed Austin was having difficulty with this and wanted to assist him. They both waded through the sea in desperation. Without his glasses, Hubert was nearly blind, and as a result, he ended up far away from his stepson’s home. They were right next to each other the entire time, but the stepfather got lost because he couldn’t see clearly where he was going. According to Hubert, this is something he regrets.
