Here, they stood outside Buckingham Palace just after they had announced their engagement on February 24th, 1981. For the official engagement photos, Lady Diana chose a deep blue skirt suit to complement her new sapphire engagement ring that she received from Prince Charles. The white bow blouse definitely looked great with the suit.

Ah, how young they were in this photo. The newly engaged couple went on their very first trip together. This picture was taken on March 9th in 1981. Lady Diana and Prince Charles were on their way to a charity event at the Goldsmith’s Hall in London. It’s clear that Diana was more than excited about the event. Wearing a strapless black dress, she couldn’t have looked more elegant. The only jewels she wore along with the dress were silver earrings and a necklace.
