We don’t know how awful a person must be in order to dispose of puppies in a sewer. Maybe these pups were simply overeager and curious? Whatever the case is, a police officer in Florida happened to hear a dog barking when driving along. He saw no dogs, however, and decided to follow the sound. He ended up in a sewer drain where three pitbull puppies were peeking out from under the sewer gate. Quickly, the cop called animal services. Eventually, the fire department had to move the sewer grate.

Construction Of The Canal

The canal’s construction began in 1802, on the orders of Napoleon I, the French emperor. Paris had a population of around 550,000 people at the time. That number did not appear to be going down any time soon. Napoleon believed that the waterway would bring fresh water to the city and improve the residents’ health.
