Concerned Assurances
Madelyn entered the room and gave me a sincere worried face. “Is everything alright?” She tilted her head slightly and asked. She immediately reassured me that everything in the house was fine when I told her how I’d been feeling. With her eyes meeting mine, she assertively stated, “I haven’t noticed anything unusual either.” I nearly felt stupid for doubting her because of her genuine concern.

‘Maybe you’ve simply been dreaming things,’ Madelyn said gently, perhaps noticing my expression. Her tone was calming yet forceful, like a still lake. Her response was reasonable and kind, but I couldn’t get rid of the persistent nagging in my head. I wanted to believe her when she said that I was simply overanalyzing the situation, but the thought kept coming back to me.
