I made the decision to start watching Madelyn more intently without her realizing it. I paid close attention to her conversations and gestures as she went about her everyday tasks. Any little detail that felt strange was something I wanted to record. I was determined to keep an eye out for anything odd, even if it was difficult to make sure she didn’t figure it out.

Madelyn’s movements throughout the home resembled a practiced dance. She moved about my house so naturally and comfortably that it felt almost like she knew it. Was this level of comfort typical of a housekeeper? A part of me was impressed by how fast and effectively she completed everything. However, my skepticism was heightened by the ease with which she moved.
