This budgerigar is different from the rest of the birds in his family. The feathered cutie is a rare chimera. You see, chimeric animals are made when two or more fertilized eggs merge and turn into a single being. This is like bringing two fraternal twins and then fusing them to make a single child. Chimeras boast two distinct DNA sets in their bodies, so you can end up with an animal with two blood types, male and female body parts, and even two distinct appearances. This does not happen very often in nature, but it is truly incredible when it does. Just look at this budgerigar if you need proof!
