Virgin Mary Visions
While still a teenager in Lourdes, Bernadette gained notoriety for claiming to have seen visions of the Virgin Mary. She lived out the remainder of her days in obscurity at a Catholic convent in Nevers, France, in order to avoid public scrutiny. Bernadette’s life, on the other hand, was blighted by disease. And, after a protracted fight with tuberculosis, the young Frenchwoman passed away at the age of 35.

When Bernadette’s remains were discovered in 1909, specialists were hunting for proof to explain the purported heavenly meetings that had made her famous as a young woman. They discovered nothing. They were confronted with a disturbing sight while delicately removing her tomb’s stone slab and cracking open the coffin, which was painstakingly taken from her grave. Despite the fact that Bernadette died three decades ago, her corpse has magically remained intact.
