He is not the only British royal family member to let go of his duties as of late. Prince Andrew, his second son, also gave up his royal duties. This happened in the wake of revelations about his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted pedophile. Prince Andrew had yet to explain the situation properly.

Victoria Arbiter, a royal watcher, took to Twitter in November 2019. In reference to his retirement, she said, “Prince Andrew is ‘stepping down’ in response to a wave of self-induced scandal and poor choices. But it’s extraordinary to think he’s effectively retiring from royal life 37 years before his father did.”
