Even though Andrew said that he asked for the Queen’s approval, the tabloids said that he got sacked. Other royals, particularly Prince William and Prince Charles, wanted this. At last, even Prince Philip allegedly weighed in by saying that his son retired to “save the monarchy.”

Truly, there was some rather spicy commentary on the crisis. A writer for the Guardian even said, “Andrew wasn’t just a bad apple. He comes from a royal orchard of them. It’s time Britain matured as a republic.” This appeared in an article with the title, “Let’s get off our knees and abolish the monarchy.”
