The Reason Why This Dog Was Returned To The Shelter 11 Times Surprised Them

Published on 01/31/2023

Adopting a dog is never an easy process. People assume it is, but there is a great deal of responsibility involved, especially if the animal being adopted has had some negative experiences in the past. However, it turns out that some of the most rewarding pets to possess are also the most difficult to care for. Nobody knew why Benji kept returning to the shelter after being adopted. It had happened 11 times by this point, and all his owners had done was keep offering lame excuses. They didn’t realize the full extent of Benji’s issue until the new trainee decided to take him home with her.

He Was Returned Once More

Because Benji was a mixed breed, no one was sure which breed he belonged to. He looked like a hybrid between a Labrador and a Golden Retriever, with a dash of Asian Village Dog thrown in for good measure. He was a great sweet boy in the shelter, but he simply can’t seem to stay in one family for long. Stacy was clearly upset and shaken by the incident when she returned to the shelter. Benji was fast asleep in the backseat of the car. Stacy was clearly upset and shaken by the incident when she returned to the shelter. Benji was fast asleep in the backseat of the car. Stacy was devastated that he had to be returned to the shelter for the 12th time after she had been so certain she could assist him. But, at the very least, they knew why it happened…

He Was Returned Again

They Were Disappointed

When a dog has to be returned to the shelter for any reason, it is never a happy time. When a shelter’s demands are eventually granted and a dog is adopted, it may be difficult to return the dog. And to think Benji has already been returned a whopping twelve times… Stacy and Benji arrived to find three other employees already present because she had made some prior arrangements. They were obviously sorry that the adoption had failed, but they were also curious as to why, given that this was their last chance to hear an honest explanation.

They Were Disappointed

They Were Disappointed

The Real Reason

The problem with adoptions is that no justification is usually necessary for returning them. It merely requires a phone call to the adoption center to inform them that you would like to return the puppy you adopted. The facility must pick up and return the dog; they are not permitted to ask about the circumstances. They were certain that Stacy would tell them the truth, despite the fact that Benji had been returned to the shelter 11 times for various reasons. The fact that they were not prepared to face the truth would become evident to them shortly. This begs the question of why Benjij was sent back to the shelter 11 times. What might be done to help this poor puppy, and what was wrong with it?

The Actual Reason

The Real Reason

One & A Half Year In the Shelter

When a dog remains at a shelter for an extended period of time, it is more suited to adapt to its environment. However, this may not always imply a good thing. A dog in a shelter is sometimes forced to share a cell with other dogs, limiting the number of possibilities for socialization. Benji had been a resident of the animal shelter for about 1.5 years at this point. Even though he was no longer a puppy but still appeared to be one, everyone who came to the shelter to pick him up fell in love with him and wanted to take him home right immediately.

Adopted A Lot

Certain pets are more likely than others to find new homes. Benji was especially fortunate because he was still a tiny boy with an adorable face. Adopting a puppy is a quicker decision than adopting other animals because, well, they’re puppies and they’re cute! Benji did not spend nearly as much time in a shelter over that one and a half year period as many people believe. If he were there and available for adoption, he could be adopted in less than two weeks. His adoptive parents, on the other hand, continually returning him to his birth family.

No Given Reason

This was already happening when he was brought into the shelter as a three-week-old puppy. His former family’s dog had successfully given birth to five healthy puppies. But for some reason, they opted to keep four of them, and they donated Benji to the animal shelter without providing any explanation. Because there were some concerns at the shelter at the time, they decided to have Benji properly examined by their on-call veterinarian. The shelter simply concluded that the dog was unlucky and ended up here because the results of all the testing revealed that he appeared to be healthy.

What Appeared To Be The Ideal Family

Because there were some concerns at the shelter at the time, they decided to have Benji properly examined by their on-call veterinarian. The shelter simply concluded that the dog was unlucky and ended up here because the results of all the testing revealed that he appeared to be healthy. He appeared to be destined to join the most ideal family possible: a young, newlywed couple with a 5-year-old daughter who is desperate for a puppy. Because the mother worked from home, there was always someone nearby to tend to Benji whenever he needed it. Nobody expected to see Benjio in the animal shelter again.

What Seemed To Be A Perfect Family

What Appeared To Be The Ideal Family

Odd Reasons

In actuality, though, this would never happen. Benji’s new owners returned him to the shelter after only three weeks. Benji, who was overjoyed and excited, had followed his father when he arrived on his own. The men merely offered a hazy explanation for why they were returning Benji, which was clearly an excuse. He had obviously built a bond with the men and had no idea it would be his last time seeing them. Perhaps it was because it had been going on for too long, but something wasn’t working out. Given what the shelter knew about the family, it was completely unreasonable.

Odd Reasons

It Wouldn’t Stop Happening

However, the shelter elected not to delve too much at that time. If Benji’s family wasn’t going to take care of him, the puppy would have been better off living with someone else. And they had no doubt that he would soon be adopted by someone who would adore him. Is there any other explanation for this than a freak accident? Everything about this turned out to be completely normal. Something is forcing it to happen again and again. Benji was adopted multiple times, but he was immediately returned to the shelter and adopted again in less than two weeks each time.

It Doesn’t Make Sense

The animal shelter employees had no idea why this was happening because they had never seen anything remotely like before. The excuses for constantly returning the poor pet sounded too weak and superficial. Furthermore, they were so distinct that at least some of them had to be made up. Some claimed that Benji was overly energetic, while others claimed that he wouldn’t even get out of bed. Some people criticized Benji for being overly enthusiastic. Others stated he avoided going to the park because he was afraid of the other dogs, while others claimed he was hostile toward other dogs.

Benji Was Hurt

When the animal shelter’s choices for Benji ran out, they decided to re-offer him for adoption. But he couldn’t spend the rest of his life in the shelter. No one believed that this unhappy dog would ever find a home where he could live out the rest of his days after being returned for the eleventh time. It was also clear that the puppy, with whom everyone at the shelter had grown close, was beginning to experience the consequences of being locked in this never-ending cycle of anguish. They could clearly tell that each time he was returned to that case, the glitter in his eyes had dimmed substantially. It was devastating.

Stacy Is A New Trainee

Benji was slumped over in one of the corners of his cage at this point. Finally, his 11th owner had provided the shelter with a plausible reason for his return. Benji was obviously unhappy all the time, and he didn’t trust him. They have every right to believe so… Everyone who worked at the shelter felt compelled to find a solution to the problem. They were all worried about the dog, and happily, a trainee named Stacy, who had only been working with them for about two weeks at the time, had the remedy.

She Wants To Adopt Him

She was in training while studying veterinary medicine. During that time, she volunteered at a homeless shelter. She’d never seen Benji before, and the moment she did, she was completely smitten. She initially met Benji when his previous owner returned him to her. Staff members who had been at the shelter for a longer period of time informed her how hilarious Benji had been in the past, despite the fact that she had only ever seen him in his severely sad state. They also disclosed that Benji had been returned 11 times for various reasons.

Attempting To Persuade The Parents

Stacy, on the other hand, was not discouraged. She remembered all the foolish former owners who had given Benji to the shelter in their anguish over their loss. She was determined to give this puppy the happy and healthy life it deserved. She was still living with her parents, so she had to convince them to let her get a dog, but she was completely unconscious of the ramifications of her actions at the time. She was pleasantly surprised to find that they were really supportive, despite her fears that they might not appreciate the notion. They had apparently already discussed getting a dog because they expected Stacy to leave soon.

Benji Was A Piece Of Work

Stacy was permitted to take Benji home with her that day because all of the necessary paperwork was completed and organized. Benji was going through the same exact stages for the twelfth time at this point in his life. He always seemed apathetic as he was led out of the cage. Benji wouldn’t even look at Stacy on the way back to his place. She knew it would take a lot of work to get this poor puppy to trust people again, to get him back to being the joyful, cheerful dog he used to be. Stacy felt confident she could pull it off, but she quickly discovered that her optimism was misplaced.

Because Benji was not their first puppy, the family already owned many of the other supplies required for dogs. Three more were already roaming the house. Benji, on the other hand, was the smallest of the group due to his size. They couldn’t pinpoint what was bothering them, but there was still an issue. But Benji was acting oddly.

The family’s other dogs, on the other hand, were less skeptical of their new pal and began exploring him as soon as they were allowed to leave the other room. They were smelling Benji like there was no tomorrow, and one of them even offered him a toy. After that, Benji’s attitude shifted slightly. Do you think he liked being the center of attention?

Benji began to socialize with the other dogs after his frigid personality appeared to be slightly thawed by all the attention and contact. The rest of the day was dedicated to giving Benji the best experience possible, as the family made certain. They believed that was the best they could do to provide Benji with the care he required. After all, he was a good guy. Right? They took Benji to the park, bought him a new toy, and even cooked him a delicious meal. Benji was profoundly affected by a day in canine heaven. He was wagging his tail all day. Stacy seems to enjoy her time with Benji, as did the rest of the family. They were also well-liked by Benji. Will that feeling last?

A Drastic Turn

The family assumed they would have a wonderful new member of the family because they had already restored him to the energetic puppy he had once been in just twenty-four hours. But, if that’s the case, why does Benji keep getting called back? Is it still necessary for them to learn something that they already know? The next days, on the other hand, were quite tranquil. Benji appeared to have little issue adjusting to the normal family activities. Stacy relayed all of the information to the shelter, and they expressed their appreciation for the accomplishments. However, things began to change after that. Nobody could explain why Benji vanished so suddenly and unexpectedly.

Looking For Benji

When the family awakened one morning, Benji was the first one out of bed. They checked all over the house but couldn’t find him. Stacy became concerned. She abused the shelter’s trust by mishandling Benji. What was going on? Benji either ran away or something else happened. She chose to keep it a secret from them, instead taking a week off work to look for Benji. She began by asking all of her neighbors if they had seen the puppy, but she was unsuccessful. Benji appeared to have vanished into thin air because he was nowhere to be seen. This worried Stacey.

Putting Up Posters

Despite the fact that the entire morning had been spent looking for him and asking around, Benji was nowhere to be found. Because no one had seen him, the next logical move was to put up wanted posters. Stacy was only crossing her fingers that no one from the shelter would spot them. She didn’t want to disappoint them after everything that had happened. There were two days left. Benji hadn’t shown up. The family had distributed posters across the neighborhood, but no one had ever answered. As they approached that point, Stacy felt she had no choice except to tell the shelter the truth. When she finally made the decision to call.

She Had No Idea

Following then, the phone started to ring. He’d been tracked down and found. The caller sounded upset but didn’t seem to want to go into specifics about where and how the problem happened. Stacy felt herself on the edge of fainting out, and she could feel adrenaline coursing through her veins. What was the situation with Benji? Stacy arrived at the man’s house confused and anxious. It took about an hour to get there. How on earth did Benji get so far away from home? Even though she had no idea how Benji had done it, she was curious to see what she would find.

Benji Was Caged

Stacy arrived home to find the man who had discovered him waiting for him at the front door. He appeared furious as he stood there with his arms crossed. What in the devil’s name could Benji have done? Stacy was concerned since the man didn’t appear to be moving at all. The man said nothing as he led Stacy inside while Benji, who appeared to be in a very sad state, was being held captive in a cage. Stacy was about to scream out at the man for imprisoning this innocent puppy when he started explaining what had happened. Stacy is unable to convey her rage at the man.

Benji Well Behaved

Benji seems to have arrived earlier that day. Because he hadn’t seen any of the posters, the man looked about for Benji’s owner. When he couldn’t find Benji, he planned to call the animal shelter because Benji was still wearing a collar with their phone number on it. What a result! He was merely walking around the house with Benji at the time, thinking he was dealing with a polite puppy. But then his own cat came in to investigate and see what was going on. Stacy had a feeling something was up with Benji.

Calling The Shelter

At the same time, Benji had an epiphany and attacked the man’s cat. Benji was about to hurt the cat when the guy intervened just in time to stop him and take the dog instead, allowing the cat to flee. Following what had occurred, the man quickly placed Benji in his cat cage. He believed that this was the best way to assure the safety of both his cat and Benji. He then called the emergency number and explained what had happened. After explaining the dog, the shelter instructed him to call Stacy and arrange for her to pick him up, which is exactly what happened. Fortunately, Benji was unharmed.

Speaking With Previous Owners

When Stacy checked her phone, she noticed that she had missed a few calls from the homeless shelter. The ability to conceal this information had long since evaporated. She took Benji from the man and apologized profusely. She reasoned that she would have to defend herself in order to safeguard the shelter. She then returned with Benji to the shelter. When Stacy arrived, she discovered that the other members of the staff had already contacted a number of Benji’s previous owners to see if any of them had similar experiences with Benji to her own. The outcomes of these calls provided fascinating insights.

The Right Decision

Every previous owner they contacted gave them the same account. Benji attacked another animal at some point, which is why they had to send him back. They now had a clear picture of Benji, which helped to clarify a number of things. Why does this behavior toward other animals exist? They had lied because they were worried Benji might be killed if the truth was revealed. As a result, they fabricated the truth. They were all way too attached to the dog to think doing something like that. They all returned him to the shelter because they didn’t want it to happen again while he was in their care.

Benji would normally have been judged dangerous and put down, but Stacy and the shelter were not going to let that happen. They could finally make better choices now that they had more information. They were also aware of the fact that they could assist Benji. Benji was supposed to stay at the shelter for a few weeks, during which time staff workers planned to work with him on acquiring more cat trust. They were brought together in a secure setting one by one, and Benji was presented to them carefully. Benji first refused to collaborate with the animal shelter, but they persisted in their efforts. Was it worthwhile?

Benji’s cat-related rage was eventually trained out of him through a difficult operation, and he was returned to the care of Stacy and her family. They were ecstatic to see Benji again because he was the puppy they had always wanted. They poured devotion on Benji. They received his appreciation. They never had any problems with their new dog again after that. He became a member of their family, just as Stacy had predicted. Benji had finally discovered the house that would be his permanent residence. Benji already had everything, therefore he didn’t need any more kennels at the time.

Puppy Finds Itself In A Lion’s Enclosure

If you were moved by this story, you might be moved to tears by the one that follows. Lions are powerful and savage creatures who will go to any length to protect their pride. Consider what might happen if a little dachshund puppy ended up in a lion’s enclosure. We’re sure you’re concerned. A sad tiny dog like that has no chance, right?

Puppy Finds Itself In A Lion’s Enclosure

King Of The Wild

The lion has earned the title of “king of the wild” with strength, power, grace, and tremendous roars. When these fearsome creatures are kept in captivity, though, humans receive a different perspective on them. In this context, we can observe that lions and their distant relative, the house cat, have many similarities. Perhaps they aren’t as terrible as we thought!

Introduce yourself to John Reinke. He is one of a few persons who have had the opportunity to play with and raise enormous animals while they were young. He has been caring for a tiger named Tony and a lion named Bonedigger since these animals were orphaned pups. To say the least, the three established an unconventional household. However, John immediately saw something between his “kids”. When Tony was tough on John, Bonedigger would approach the tiger and roar!

Health Concerns

You should be aware that the cub has experienced health issues since birth. Bonedigger’s bones were metabolic, which meant they were weaker and more brittle than normal. The majority of animals with the same disease do not survive to adulthood. Bonedigger, on the other hand, is a survivor who made it despite the odds.

However, Bonedigger was not the only member of the family who had to struggle with medical problems. In 1994, John decided to attempt bungee jumping. Growing Up

It was just a matter of time until the cubs grew larger and larger. They grew to be too large for John to keep in his own home. This is when he took them both to the Wynnewood Animal Park in Oklahoma. They were free to roam as much as they wished in this large, open space.

Joe devised a high-risk strategy. He dragged Abby into Bonedigger’s lair! He did kept the dachshund on a leash and hoped the lion would be gentle with her. Bonedigger, on the other hand, was terrified of the young pup and sought to draw away from her.
