When a dog remains at a shelter for an extended period of time, it is more suited to adapt to its environment. However, this may not always imply a good thing. A dog in a shelter is sometimes forced to share a cell with other dogs, limiting the number of possibilities for socialization. Benji had been a resident of the animal shelter for about 1.5 years at this point. Even though he was no longer a puppy but still appeared to be one, everyone who came to the shelter to pick him up fell in love with him and wanted to take him home right immediately.

Adopted A Lot
Certain pets are more likely than others to find new homes. Benji was especially fortunate because he was still a tiny boy with an adorable face. Adopting a puppy is a quicker decision than adopting other animals because, well, they’re puppies and they’re cute! Benji did not spend nearly as much time in a shelter over that one and a half year period as many people believe. If he were there and available for adoption, he could be adopted in less than two weeks. His adoptive parents, on the other hand, continually returning him to his birth family.
