They Were Disappointed
When a dog has to be returned to the shelter for any reason, it is never a happy time. When a shelter’s demands are eventually granted and a dog is adopted, it may be difficult to return the dog. And to think Benji has already been returned a whopping twelve times… Stacy and Benji arrived to find three other employees already present because she had made some prior arrangements. They were obviously sorry that the adoption had failed, but they were also curious as to why, given that this was their last chance to hear an honest explanation.

The Real Reason
The problem with adoptions is that no justification is usually necessary for returning them. It merely requires a phone call to the adoption center to inform them that you would like to return the puppy you adopted. The facility must pick up and return the dog; they are not permitted to ask about the circumstances. They were certain that Stacy would tell them the truth, despite the fact that Benji had been returned to the shelter 11 times for various reasons. The fact that they were not prepared to face the truth would become evident to them shortly. This begs the question of why Benjij was sent back to the shelter 11 times. What might be done to help this poor puppy, and what was wrong with it?
