Taka Michinoku was one of Japan’s first wrestlers to occupy a popular WWE programming spot. In his WWE debut, Taka ripped down the Canadian Stampede PPV house against his trainer, The Great Sasuke. A massive crowd response contributed to major drive, when Michinoku became the first ever WWE Light Heavyweight Champion when he defeated Brian Christopher in the tournament finals. He was a part of Kai En Tai, challenging Triple H for the WWE title.
