Even though he was a rising star, CBS president Jim Aubrey was hesitant to sign on to his Gilligan’s Island pitch. Aubrey worried that the audience would quickly grow frustrated that none of the characters could escape from the island. Luckily, Schwartz’s persistence paid off and the show became a hit!

So yes, it was pretty wild that Natalie Schafer was a millionaire on and off screen. Despite being so high class, this actress chose to do every one of her own stunts. I mean, you need to give her props considering she was around 65 years old at the time! Let’s not forget she was sinking into quicksand and even falling into the lagoon. Pretty impressive!
