Finding Fresh Air
Mike went outside and felt the cool air on his face. Perhaps a pause might assist him to calm his racing mind. The only sounds in the deserted parking lot were the rustle of leaves and distant car alarms. He inhaled deeply a few times, attempting to calm himself and think clearly. In contrast to the chaos he experienced within, the outside world appeared so normal. Beyond the confines of the hospital, he hoped to gain some clarity.

On his way back to the hospital, Mike saw employees stealing private looks. As he passed by, he could swear they glanced in his direction and whispered something. His paranoia only grew as a result. Were all of them complicit in a diabolical scheme? He felt like he was the center of attention from those quick glances. This hospital seemed more and more like a place of secrets as paranoia gnawed its way into his thoughts.
