In 2018 Netflix cancelled the show Seven Seconds after just one season. Nevertheless, they were careful to ensure fans got the closure they needed as the show was only supposed to be a standalone story. The plot centered on the the unexplained death of an African American boy, and audiences were gripped throughout. The VP of Original Content at Netflix, Cindy Holland, said,“We loved working with Veena, Regina and the cast and crew of Seven Seconds. Together they created a compelling, timely and relevant crime drama. The first season is a complete, stand-alone story that we are proud to feature on Netflix for years to come.”

Marco Polo was cut by Netflix after just two seasons. According to the NY Times, the reason it was cancelled was probably down to the big budget needed for the show. In fact it was reported that the producers poured  $180 million into making it, and the performance ratings didn’t quite live up to their expectations, so it was understandably cancelled.
