Karl wanted to avoid people who would support those who were protesting. The chief officer said, “Take the high road!” Also, “The actions of a few do not equate to the actions of many.”

The restaurant did everything they could to fulfill their promise. They had released a statement to their criticism and shared it in The Washington Post. “In a statement, the company said that ‘the views and actions of these individuals’ were ‘inexcusable’ and do not reflect those of the company or the rest of the staff at the Duke Street location.”
